Job Overview

M-PAYA Energy, a customer-focused utility billing company, is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer (Smart Metering) to join our innovative team. Specializing in suite metering and billing solutions for multi-unit residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, we provide comprehensive billing services for utilities such as electricity, water, and gas. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in driving the adoption of smart metering solutions and contribute to the company’s overall success by leveraging your technical expertise and sales acumen.

This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage client relationships, and become a subject matter expert in advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) technologies. Key Responsibilities

1. Smart Metering Expertise

  • Demonstratable experience working with smart meters, including installation, configuration, and data analysis.
  • Develop a deep understanding of smart metering communication protocols and technologies such as Zigbee and PLC.
  • Hands-on experience with MDMS (Meter Data Management Systems) is a strong asset.
  • Utilize your expertise in AMR and AMI technologies, such as proprietary RF, MBUS, LoRaWAN, Sigfox, Cellular, SMETS2, and STS prepayment systems.

2. Process Management

  • Implement and document efficient processes for managing and supporting both new and existing smart metering products.
  • Analyze client applications and recommend improvements to optimize technical workflows and ensure best practices.
  • Continuously assess and enhance operational procedures to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.

3. Training and Support

  • Provide comprehensive training to internal teams on the use and functionality of smart metering technologies.
  • Serve as the technical expert for the sales team during pre-sales, helping articulate smart metering solutions to potential clients.
  • Offer post-installation support and troubleshooting to ensure smooth integration of new metering systems into customer environments.

4. Client Liaison

  • Act as a primary technical liaison between M-PAYA Energy and its clients, addressing technical concerns and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients on custom requirements, ensuring the successful deployment and optimization of smart metering technologies.
  • Assist with resource management to ensure timely delivery of products and services.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a technical role with a strong emphasis on smart metering technology.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of AMI technologies and MDMS.
  • Previous experience in client-facing roles, providing technical support and sales engineering.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and optimize technical processes.
