Location: Kilimani, Nairobi, Kenya
Duration: Contract (6 months)
Reporting to: Human Resource and Administration Officer

Job Summary

The Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Office Driver to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our transportation needs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing reliable driving services, maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness, and supporting various logistical tasks within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Transport Trips: Maintain accurate records of all transport trips, including time and mileage for company vehicles.
  • Vehicle Cleanliness and Safety: Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of the vehicle at all times.
  • Traffic Compliance: Adhere strictly to traffic regulations to ensure safe driving practices.
  • Assist with Loading and Offloading: Help with loading and unloading staff luggage, products, and materials as required.
  • Report Tickets: Notify the company promptly of any tickets issued against the vehicle during work hours.
  • Parking Compliance: Park the vehicle in designated areas to prevent towing and ensure proper handling.
  • Accident and Damage Reporting: Report any accidents, injuries, or vehicle damage to management immediately.
  • Simple Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as cleaning, state inspections, and filling tires with air.
  • Vehicle Performance Communication: Maintain consistent communication with the supervisor regarding vehicle performance and issues.
  • Insurance and Servicing: Ensure up-to-date vehicle insurance and adherence to scheduled servicing, maintaining detailed records.
  • Compliance with Policies: Follow IEK’s travel and HR policies in relation to vehicle use.
  • Office Messenger Services: Provide additional office messenger services as needed.

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirement: KCSE Certificate.
  • Driving License: Valid Kenyan Driving License Class ‘BCE’ with no endorsements.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct: Must possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Experience: At least three years of driving experience in a busy environment.
  • Functional Skills:
    • Exceptional integrity and professionalism.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of Kenyan traffic laws.
    • Proficiency in using maps, GPS systems, and car manuals.
