Logistics/Inbound Manager (Katani Holding Area) – Nairobi, Kenya

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Management

• Timely Receipt of Materials: Ensure the timely receipt of aggregate materials from the quarry.
• Inventory Monitoring: Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient materials are available for internal use.
• Coordination with Quarry Team: Coordinate with the quarry team to forecast and plan material requirements.

2. Logistics and Delivery Planning

• Transportation Planning: Plan and manage the transportation of aggregates from Katani to the company headquarters located in Nairobi.
• Delivery Schedule Optimization: Optimize delivery schedules to ensure timely supply while minimizing transportation costs.
• Logistical Problem-Solving: Address any logistical challenges to ensure smooth operations.

3. Site Operations and Administration

• Daily Operations Oversight: Oversee daily operations at the Katani site, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
• Site Administration: Manage site administration, including documentation, reporting, and compliance with safety regulations.
• Standard Operating Procedures: Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for site operations.

4. Team Management

• Leadership: Lead, supervise, and support the 50 employees at the Katani site.
• Training and Guidance: Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations to ensure a high-performing team.
• Work Environment: Foster a positive work environment and address any employee concerns or conflicts.

5. Coordination and Communication

• Liaison Responsibilities: Act as the primary liaison between the Katani site and other departments, including the quarry team and company headquarters in Nairobi.
• Regular Updates: Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on site operations and material status.
• Process Improvement: Collaborate with other managers to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.

Key Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or site operations, preferably in the construction or materials industry.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Communication Abilities: Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in inventory management and logistics planning software.
• Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in site management.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactivity: Proactive and able to take initiative.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based at the Katani Holding Area but may require visits to other sites or the quarry as necessary. This dynamic environment requires a hands-on approach and a proactive attitude to ensure that all operations run smoothly.
