Airport Manager, Wilson Airport (WAP) REF: AM-WAP/03/JUNE 2024
Company Overview:
Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) was established in 1991 under the KAA Act Cap 395 to provide facilitative infrastructure for aviation services in Kenya. Guided by its mandate, the Authority is seeking to recruit a competent and self-driven individual to fill the position of Airport Manager, Wilson Airport. This role also includes overseeing the running of Wajir Airport, Isiolo Airport, Nanyuki, and Garissa Airstrips.
Job Purpose:
The Airport Manager, Wilson Airport, will be responsible for overseeing airport and regional operations by providing leadership and management to achieve business growth, ensuring a seamless customer experience, and maintaining the safety and security of passengers and airport users in line with national legislation and International Civil Aviation Standards & Recommended Practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Coordination:
- Coordinate airport operations in collaboration with stakeholders, ministries, departments, and agencies to enhance customer experience.
- Manage emergency and crisis response at the airport and regional levels.
- Strategic Implementation:
- Drive the implementation of the Airport Master Plan in consultation with stakeholders.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Airport Security Plan.
- Implement the safety management system at the airport.
- Environmental and Financial Management:
- Responsible for the implementation of the Environment Plan at the Airport.
- Authorize and control airport financial expenditure.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Coordinate internal and external system and regulatory audit activities for compliance and continual improvement.
- Ensure compliance with contractual SLAs and service delivery standards of third-party service providers.
- Customer Experience:
- Oversee seamless passenger and airport user facilitation to enhance customer experience.
- Guide on the resolution of customer complaints in line with the authority’s service charter and complaints handling procedure.
- Community and Media Relations:
- Collaborate with the surrounding community on matters relating to airport operations.
- Manage media relations in the region.
- Safety and Security:
- Oversee compliance with rescue and firefighting capacity at the airport commensurate with the aerodrome’s level of protection.
- Ensure safe aircraft operations at the airport.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Management, Engineering, Law, or any relevant field.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or a relevant field from a recognized institution (desirable).
- Certifications:
- Certification in any ICAO regulatory training.
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience, with at least four (4) years in a management position.
- Working knowledge and understanding of airport operations and management, and operations of State Corporations.
- Proficiency in IT with practical working experience in a highly automated ERP environment such as SAP.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strategy execution, analytical skills, people management, coaching, problem-solving, decision-making, financial management, teamwork, communication, interpersonal, risk management, and leadership skills.
Compliance Requirements (Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010):
Shortlisted candidates will be required to have a valid:
- Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
- Self-Declaration Form stamped by the Ethics & Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Certificate of Clearance from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
- Clearance Certificate from a recognized Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
