As a Field Sales Manager at Solar Panda, you will play a pivotal role in the company’s mission to bring clean energy to rural households. Working in the Kinango area of Kwale County and Garsen in Tana River County, you will lead a team of commission-based sales agents to achieve sales targets, support field operations, and contribute to scaling Solar Panda’s impact in rural Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

As the Field Sales Manager, you will:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of commission-based sales agents, empowering them to achieve sales targets.
  • Develop and execute clear sales strategies, aligning with company goals and tailoring initiatives to rural market dynamics.
  • Support sales agents in their pitches to community groups (e.g., chamas), helping them perfect their delivery and close more sales.
  • Monitor daily sales activities and track agent performance, providing timely feedback and support where necessary to ensure they meet their targets.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Training Team to schedule necessary training programs, ensuring agents are equipped with the latest skills and techniques.
  • Analyze and report on sales performance, sharing insights and progress with the Area Sales Manager and recommending strategies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on market trends, including customer preferences and competitor activities, and provide actionable insights to enhance Solar Panda’s competitive edge.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • At least 4 years of experience in a sales or microfinance role, with a proven track record of success in rural markets.
  • Experience in recruiting and managing commission-based sales agents, with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and support teams effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to strategically plan, organize, and execute sales initiatives in rural areas.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with both your team and customers.
  • Flexibility and resilience, particularly when working in challenging environments, with a focus on achieving set sales outcomes.
  • Diploma or degree in a related academic field is an added advantage, though relevant work experience is highly valued.
