Job Overview

BTL, a Christian faith-based organization focused on Bible Translation, Literacy, and Community Development, is seeking a highly motivated, ministry-minded individual to fill the position of Cashier. The successful candidate will work at our Christian International Conference Centre (BTL – CICC) in Ruiru and assist the Accountant in managing a robust and compliant accounting system that aligns with International Accounting Standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Payments: Efficiently handle transactions and clear bills at the Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Manage MPESA Transactions: Oversee MPESA agency transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
• Daily Reporting and Reconciliation: Prepare daily a la carte reports and conduct accurate reconciliations for the coffee and drink shops.
• Inventory Management: Manage stock in the canteen and perform regular inventory reconciliations.
• Material Issuance: Oversee the issuance of operational materials from the store to relevant departments.
• Cash Reconciliation: Ensure accurate and regular cash reconciliations in line with internal controls.
• Additional Tasks: Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall accounting functions.

Qualifications

• CPA Part 1: A certified CPA Part 1 qualification is required.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential for this role.
• Self-Motivated: The ideal candidate should be persistent, resolute, and capable of delivering results without close supervision.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of experience as a Cashier is required.
• Industry Experience: Experience in food and beverage controls in the hospitality industry is an added advantage.
