Join the dynamic team at Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) as we seek a dedicated Workshop Foreman for our operations in Kakuma. PWJ is committed to providing humanitarian assistance to those in need, and this role is crucial in ensuring the smooth facilitation of workshop floor and field activities.

Job Summary:

As a Workshop Foreman, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and overseeing workshop operations under the guidance of the Workshop Officer. Your responsibilities will include conducting auto-mechanical maintenance and repairs, ensuring workshop safety compliance, and managing spare parts inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of light vehicles, plant, and equipment.
  • Overhaul engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
  • Respond to breakdowns in the field, providing timely repairs and generating defect reports.
  • Enforce workshop safety protocols and proper tool usage to minimize accidents.
  • Interpret technical manuals and specifications for accurate repairs and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, spare parts usage, and vehicle inspections.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed repairs and road test vehicles as needed.
  • Collaborate with the parts technician to ensure the quality of spare parts and manage inventory effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive option) and valid BCE driving license.
  • Extensive experience in motor vehicle repairs, with expertise in 4WD vehicles and Isuzu trucks.
  • Proficiency in auto electrics/electronics and welding & fabrication preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in automotive repairs, with at least 2 years in an INGO setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage spare parts inventory and conduct efficient repairs.
