Position Overview

As a Waiter/Waitress at Strathmore University, you will play a crucial role in providing outstanding Food and Beverage Service to university guests, students, and staff. You will assist the Restaurant Supervisor in ensuring a seamless and pleasant dining experience for all patrons.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve Food and Beverages: Deliver high-quality food and drink service according to the duty rota, ensuring a first-class experience for all customers.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure that the food service area remains clean and orderly, adhering to the highest standards of food hygiene.
• Restock Supplies: Refill serving stations and dining areas with necessary items such as beverages, food, cutlery, napkins, and linens.
• Customer Assistance: Provide general information or assistance on the menu and address any special requests or dietary needs.
• Coordinate Operations: Work with chefs, cashiers, and other staff members to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
• Table Management: Clean and reset tables promptly after guests have finished dining.
• Adhere to Standards: Maintain grooming and appearance standards consistently.
• Event Setup: Arrange and set up tables for special events according to the functions checklist.
• Handle Special Requests: Communicate special requests and dietary requirements to the kitchen staff effectively.
• Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with kitchen staff, baristas, and other waiters to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
• Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks within the scope and purpose of the role as requested by the Head of Department.

Minimum Academic Qualifications

• Diploma in Food Production, Food and Beverage, or a related field from a recognized institution.

Experience

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a busy environment.

Competencies and Attributes

• Strong analytical skills
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Good understanding of MS Suite
