About Biovision Africa Trust
Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) is a Kenyan-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 2009. Established by the Biovision Foundation for ecological development in Switzerland and supported by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, BvAT’s mission is to alleviate poverty and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kenya and other African countries. This is achieved by disseminating knowledge on ecological technologies aimed at enhancing human, animal, plant, and environmental health.
BvAT operates under three primary programs:
- Farmer Communication Programme (FCP)
- Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA)
- Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture (KCOA)
The FCP program uses a combination of print media, radio, online platforms, and farmer outreach to educate smallholder farmers on sustainable agriculture practices.
Job Summary: Voice Over Artist for a 30-Minute Video Documentary
Biovision Africa Trust is seeking a professional Voice Over Artist to provide narration for a documentary in line with World Food Day 2024, focusing on the theme “Right to Foods, for a Better Life and a Better Future.” This documentary aims to showcase contributions from various sector players toward achieving food security.
As a Voice Over Artist, you will be responsible for narrating the 30-minute documentary and assisting with the creative storytelling process.
Key Responsibilities
- Script Familiarization: Understand the documentary’s flow by thoroughly reviewing the provided script.
- Voice Over Production: Provide a clear and engaging narration of the script in English, ensuring clarity, tone modulation, and flow.
- Audio Editing: Edit and finalize the voice over audio to ensure it is ready for integration into the video.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Biovision Africa Trust Video Unit during the production process to ensure the narrative matches the documentary’s theme.
Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Perfect Diction: A clear and articulate voice that is easily understood.
- Tone Modulation: Excellent control over voice tone and intensity to match the emotional tone of the documentary.
- Rhythm Adaptation: Ability to adapt the rhythm of speech to match the documentary’s pace.
- Experience: At least three years of experience in voice over production, particularly for documentaries or NGO projects.
- Professional Work Ethic: Integrity, initiative, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Deliverables
The Voice Over Artist will be expected to deliver:
- Two Final Audio Files:
- One draft version in MP3 and WAV format.
- One final clean version in both MP3 and WAV formats, ready for integration with the video.
- The audio files must be synced with the script provided by Biovision Africa Trust.
Consultancy Period
The Voice Over Artist will have 1 week to complete the narration and editing, ensuring timely submission.
Terms of Payment
- The fee and payment terms will be negotiated and finalized with the consultant prior to signing the contract.
- The payment will be based on milestones agreed upon by Biovision Africa Trust and the selected candidate.

3. Adaptation to Rhythm
The artist should have experience in adapting the rhythm of their speech to fit the documentary’s flow, ensuring the narration complements the visual elements.
4. Experience in Similar Projects
Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years of experience working on similar projects, especially with NGOs or within the agricultural sector. Previous experience working on voice over for documentaries will be an added advantage.
5. Professionalism
A strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to meet deadlines are crucial for this role. The artist must demonstrate integrity in their work and take initiative where needed.
