Position Overview:

As a VAM and Monitoring Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting food security and nutrition policies and programs. Your responsibilities will include providing technical advice, conducting food security and nutrition analyses, managing data gathering systems, and collaborating with internal and external partners. This role will contribute to the development of strategies that have a direct impact on reducing hunger and improving nutrition in the region.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provide Expert Advice: Offer technical guidance and support on food security and nutrition strategies, policies, and programs, ensuring compliance with WFP standards.
  2. Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of RAM projects, aligning them with wider WFP policies and regional priorities.
  3. Data Analysis: Conduct food security, nutrition, markets, and resilience analysis, producing timely reports to inform strategy and decision-making.
  4. Quality Assurance: Ensure data gathering and monitoring systems maintain rigorous quality standards.
  5. Collaboration: Liaise with implementing partners to monitor projects, ensuring efficiency and highlighting potential risks.
  6. Program Development: Contribute technical analysis and recommendations to facilitate effective food assistance programs.
  7. Capacity Building: Provide coaching and guidance to RAM staff and partners to enhance their analytical skills.
  8. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the evaluation of WFP activities, providing technical analysis and information for impact assessment.
  9. Partnerships: Represent WFP in meetings with partners, contributing to technical discussions and areas for collaboration.
  10. Emergency Response: Act in an assigned emergency response capacity to meet food assistance needs.


  • Advanced University degree in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography, or related field, or First University degree with additional related work experience and/or training.
  • Fluency in oral and written English (level C). Fluency in French or Arabic is an advantage.
