TECHNICIAN, ELECTRICAL (TECHNICIAN 2) – GENERAL SERVICES

Job Purpose
The Technician, Electrical at the Central Bank of Kenya plays a crucial role in maintaining the Bank’s electrical systems, ensuring the seamless operation of Automatic Voltage Regulators, Generators, electrical boards, cabling, and other electrical equipment and installations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely Install and Repair: Execute the safe installation and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and machinery components following electrical codes, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
- Control and Distribution Apparatus: Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
- Diagnose and Resolve: Identify and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment. Inspect completed jobs, ensuring areas are clean and safe.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFD’s), motors, pumps, generators, lifts, UPS’, etc.
- Timely Work Order Completion: Receive and complete work orders within the expected timelines.
- Material Selection and Estimates: Select materials and hardware, providing time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records of material and labor usage.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials, operating them according to established safety procedures.
- Collaboration: Work with building experts and supervisors to complete electrical scope on ongoing projects.
- Building Repairs: Detect repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls promptly.
- Preventive Maintenance on Tools and Equipment: Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Safety Procedures: Follow established safety procedures and techniques for job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Team Collaboration: Be a responsive and active team player in line with Bank values.
- Adherence to Policies: Adhere to Bank Policies, procedures, and regulations. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Education: Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering from a recognized institution.
- License: Government of Kenya Electricians License or equivalent.
Work Experience
At least five (5) post-graduation relevant experiences in a large and busy organization.
