Position Overview
Are you passionate about driving results through data science and research? IPA seeks a highly motivated and experienced Technical Program Manager to join our Global Research and Data Science (GRDS) team. This role is crucial in managing technical innovations and ensuring high-quality data standards are maintained across all global research projects. You will be instrumental in coordinating with internal stakeholders, managing global projects, and supporting the preparation of proposals and reports for external partners. Working with colleagues around the world, you will lead IPA’s data science initiatives that aim to make a profound impact on millions of lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management:
Lead and implement agile methodologies for managing complex global research and data science projects.
Oversee sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives with the GRDS team and other cross-functional units.
Ensure seamless coordination of responses to global data coding requests while maintaining research quality standards. - Communication & Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with IPA country offices, sector programs, and policy teams to meet project deadlines.
Provide regular updates on GRDS activities to internal stakeholders within IPA. - Process Improvement:
Identify and implement best practices in agile project management to enhance operational efficiency.
Contribute to strategic discussions during team meetings to align the team’s work with the broader organizational goals. - Proposal & Reporting Support:
Assist in the preparation of funding proposals and reporting requirements for donors and external stakeholders.
Liaise with the Right-fit Evidence unit to ensure that high-quality research standards are upheld.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- A minimum of 3+ years managing complex, multi-stakeholder, and international data-related projects.
- In-depth knowledge of agile project management principles and methodologies.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving.
- Project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred:
- Experience using project management tools like Jira or Asana.
- Proficiency in working with data analysis tools such as Python, SQL, R, or Stata.
- Familiarity with research quality standards and the ability to implement them across international projects.
- Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Swahili.
- Experience in international development organizations is a plus.
