Role Overview

The Storytelling Coordinator is a dynamic and impactful role within the TonyWild Foundation, dedicated to amplifying our mission through compelling storytelling. This position integrates photography, film, and written narratives to create immersive experiences that inspire behavioral change and raise awareness about biodiversity conservation. As the Storytelling Coordinator, you will collaborate with conservationists, photographers, filmmakers, and youth participants, bringing to life diverse stories that evoke emotional connections and drive meaningful environmental impact.

This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing you to contribute both remotely and on-site. The role will play a pivotal part in furthering our efforts to create lasting change for the planet’s biodiversity by utilizing cutting-edge storytelling techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation and Management

As the Storytelling Coordinator, you will:

  • Develop and execute storytelling strategies that align with the TonyWild Foundation’s mission of promoting biodiversity conservation through behavioral change.
  • Coordinate the creation of multimedia content, including photo essays, short films, blogs, podcasts, and interactive media, highlighting conservation efforts.
  • Collaborate with photographers, videographers, and writers to produce visually captivating and emotionally engaging content.
  • Oversee the collection, editing, and distribution of storytelling content across various digital platforms, such as social media, websites, and newsletters.
  • Ensure storytelling content aligns with the broader organizational goals of inspiring conservation efforts and raising awareness.

Youth and Community Engagement

You will lead efforts to engage and mentor youth and local communities in creating their own storytelling content:

  • Facilitate storytelling workshops to train and mentor youth and community members in using photography, film, and writing to raise awareness about local biodiversity issues.
  • Support the Wild Legacy Champions program by equipping youth leaders with storytelling tools and guiding them in developing conservation-related content.
  • Collaborate with youth participants to develop and showcase their conservation stories, ensuring their content aligns with the goals of biodiversity conservation.

Campaign Coordination

You will work closely with the communications team to develop impactful storytelling campaigns:

  • Partner with the communications team to create storytelling campaigns focused on specific behavioral changes, such as reducing deforestation or plastic use, and their direct impact on biodiversity.
  • Coordinate content creation and distribution for global campaigns that engage diverse audiences on conservation issues and promote sustainable behaviors.
  • Ensure storytelling content supports the organization’s larger advocacy efforts by using compelling narratives to influence policy and public behavior.

Partnership Building

A key part of the role involves building relationships that amplify storytelling efforts:

  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, such as NGOs, environmental scientists, educators, and media outlets to expand the reach of our storytelling initiatives.
  • Collaborate with educators and conservationists to integrate storytelling into educational curricula, fostering ecological literacy and promoting behavior change.
  • Liaise with media outlets and online platforms to maximize the reach and engagement of storytelling content and campaigns.

Project Management

Effective project management will be critical for success in this role:

  • Manage storytelling project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of storytelling initiatives, providing regular reports on engagement metrics, impact, and lessons learned.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need a combination of technical expertise and interpersonal skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Environmental Science, Wildlife Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: This position is ideal for recent graduates (within the last three years) eager to apply their academic knowledge and grow within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Storytelling Expertise: Strong background in storytelling across multiple formats, including film, photography, and writing, with a demonstrated ability to create compelling narratives that inspire action.
  • Digital Media Skills: Proficiency in video editing software, graphic design tools, and photography (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom).
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage storytelling projects from concept to execution, including developing proposals, managing budgets, and meeting deadlines.
  • Collaboration Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams, including youth, conservation experts, and media professionals.
  • Passion for Conservation: A deep commitment to biodiversity conservation and using storytelling as a tool for social change.
