Job Summary:
Join our team in Nairobi as a Storekeeper and contribute to the success of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) operations in Kenya. As a Storekeeper, you will play a crucial role in executing stock management activities, ensuring the rational use of resources, and maintaining the overall functioning of MSF activities.
Main Purpose:
Execute stock management activities, including receptions, storage, and deliveries of medical supplies, food items, spare parts, tools, equipment, and other logistics materials. Adhere to warehouse supervisor instructions, MSF standards, and protocols, ensuring seamless MSF operations within Kenya.
Accountabilities:
Supervise Material Orders and Dispatch:
Ensure rational use of materials and goods through effective supervision of orders and dispatch.
Receive Orders and Deliveries:
Receive orders and deliveries, identifying and reporting discrepancies, and store materials according to the system in force to ensure continuous availability.
Maintain Organized Storage:
Update stock cards immediately after goods reception, store materials ensuring they are well-organized, protected, identified, and easily accessible.
Monitor Cold Chain and Sensitive Goods:
Monitor the store temperature, ensure cold chain items are stored appropriately, and control “sensitive” goods, including lots, expiry dates, packaging, and special storage conditions.
Prepare and Pack Orders:
Prepare orders on time, pack goods according to transport means, weigh and label freight as per line manager’s instructions.
Conduct Stock Counts:
Perform physical stock counts, follow up on stock levels, alarms thresholds, stock out, and expiry dates in collaboration with the line manager.
Ensure Warehouse Security:
Control warehouse limited access, secure doors and exits, and report any issues or incidents to the line manager promptly.
Assist in Stock Reporting:
Collaborate with the line manager in preparing stock reports.
Requirements:
Education:
- Storekeeping, Warehouse, and Supplies management or related studies.
Experience:
- Essential experience in warehousing activities.
- Essential experience with MSF.
- Desirable experience with UniField.
- Asset: experience with warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet stacker, etc.).
Languages:
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
Knowledge:
- Essential knowledge of mathematics and use of measuring equipment.
- Desirable computer literacy (Word, Excel).
- Desirable knowledge of UniField.
- Desirable ability to perform basic repairs.
