PLAN INTERNATIONAL KENYA STRATEGY STATEMENT

Our strategic goal in the next five years is to end teenage pregnancies and all forms of sexual and gender-based violence against adolescent girls and young women. We aim to create a safe and enabling environment for girls and young women, offering equal opportunities and care. By 2026, we plan to directly impact approximately 2.75 million children, including girls and young women, in Kenya.

THE ROLE PURPOSE- Rights Advisor

As the Principal Advisor for Plan Kenya’s integrated technical and programmatic advice in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for girls and youth, you will play a crucial role in advancing Plan International’s SRHR strategy. You will lead program design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and learning of Plan Kenya’s adolescent and youth SRHR initiatives. Your work will focus on increasing support from the Kenyan government to make substantial progress in adolescent and youth SRHR.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical leadership in adolescent and youth SRHR programs and services.
  • Ensuring the highest quality of technical standards for SRHR programs and related projects.
  • Collaborating with regional and global advisors to support Plan International’s SRHR program.
  • Contributing to business development through intelligence gathering, proposal development, and advocacy.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE

Qualifications/Experience Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences (Medicine, Public Health, or related discipline).
  • At least 7 years of demonstrable experience in adolescent and youth SRHR programs, with 3 years in an advisory/managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of adolescent development, family planning, and reproductive health principles.
  • Proven experience in providing technical assistance to complex SRHR and health programs.
  • Commitment to promoting girls’ rights and gender equality in day-to-day work.

Qualifications/Experience Desirable:

  • Passion for SRHR, elimination of harmful cultural practices, and gender equality.
  • Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, rights, harmful practices, and adolescence.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring staff on health interventions.
  • Demonstrable advocacy experience in national and county-level health systems.

Languages Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
