With a presence in 35 African countries, over 180 programs, and impacting 40 million individuals, Amref is dedicated to community-led health systems and addressing health’s social determinants. Job Purpose: The Senior Corporate Communications and Advocacy Manager, reporting to the Group Director, Partnerships and External Affairs, will spearhead communication, advocacy, and knowledge management initiatives across Amref countries. This role will elevate Amref’s influence and visibility through strategic communications partnerships, integrated campaigns, and documentation, thereby solidifying our position as a prominent voice on Africa’s health agenda.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop Advocacy Communications Excellence

  • Align advocacy communications with corporate strategy.
  • Propel Amref’s global visibility through traditional media, digital platforms, government, and donors.

Advocate with Impact

  • Craft internal and external advocacy communication approaches.
  • Manage external engagement for advocacy portfolio.
  • Amplify Amref’s influence by seizing strategic opportunities and platforms.

Champion Thought Leadership

  • Elevate influencers through impactful content and opinion pieces.
  • Lead and coordinate Amref’s Speakers’ Bureau.

Craft Engaging Content

  • Curate content across various platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, and reports.
  • Drive an editorial strategy spanning African, European, and North American contexts.

Empower Employee Engagement

  • Use storytelling to highlight Amref’s initiatives and celebrate achievements.

Convene and Catalyze

  • Organize high-level events, engaging partners and decision-makers.
  • Forge advocacy coalitions and nurture relationships.

Stay Ahead of Trends

  • Remain informed about health policies and trends.
  • Provide expertise on advocacy and outreach strategies.

Collaborate for Success

  • Partner with external communications agencies.
  • Collaborate across global teams for communication harmonization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies or Social Sciences (Master’s preferred).
  • A minimum of ten years in Communications and Advocacy, including six years in senior roles.
  • Experience in advising on communication strategy and engagement.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in diverse, fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in English (French desired but not mandatory).
