Job Description:

As a School Cook at Kikambala, you’ll play a vital role in delivering top-notch food services during term time and special events under the supervision of the Catering Manager and Head Chefs. Your commitment to excellence will ensure that every meal served maintains the highest quality standards, contributing to a positive dining experience for students, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities:

1. Meal Preparation and Presentation:

  • Take charge of preparing, presenting, and serving meals to exceptional standards.
  • Cater for various functions and events, ensuring diverse culinary offerings.

2. Kitchen Management:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area and equipment.
  • Control waste during preparation and cooking processes, emphasizing efficiency.

3. Food Safety and Hygiene:

  • Adhere strictly to health, hygiene, and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor food stock, equipment usage, and portion control to maintain quality and safety.

4. Operational Support:

  • Assist in data collection and daily checks to uphold operational efficiency.
  • Report accidents, damages, or incidents promptly to the Catering Manager.

5. Hygiene Rating and Facility Management:

  • Contribute actively to achieving and maintaining a five-star food hygiene rating.
  • Ensure timely opening, closing, and security of the Catering Department premises.

6. Continuous Improvement:

  • Attend relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Embrace opportunities for continuous improvement in job performance.

Qualifications:

  • KCSE certificate
  • Food Handler’s Certificate

  • Previous experience in a school or high-volume food service environment.
  • Familiarity with child protection and safeguarding procedures, including knowledge of The Children’s Act.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders.

  • Positive, approachable, and flexible demeanor with a common-sense approach to problem-solving.
