Job Description
Main Purpose: Area Sales Representative
As the Area Sales Representative, your mission is to effectively manage the sales and distribution of BIC’s products and services within a defined geographic area of East Africa. Your role is pivotal in ensuring consistent, profitable growth in sales revenue while managing and controlling sales resources for maximum profitability. Your strategic prowess will be crucial in developing and implementing sales strategies and action plans, motivating and developing Sales Agents, and achieving corporate, sales, and marketing objectives.
Main Responsibilities / Tasks
Management Business
- Sales Excellence: Achieve monthly sales volume and value targets across all product categories (Stationery, Lighters, Shavers, and Shaving preps) within your defined geographic area.
- Strategic Execution: Ensure effective implementation of negotiated Key Account promotions and marketing strategies.
- Team Leadership: Manage third-party Sales and Merchandising Agents to achieve sales targets and key Trade Promotions objectives.
- Service Optimization: Implement cost-effective sales call coverage to increase sales and area profitability.
- Sales Team Empowerment: Oversee Sales Agents to ensure the realization of sales targets and marketing objectives at store level.
- Promotions Expertise: Ensure seamless execution of negotiated promotions during Mini-Major Back to School and Shaver/Lighter promotional periods.
- Market Insights: Compile and submit essential sales and market intelligence reports, including trade surveys, sales contact reports, in-store audits, daily/weekly reports, competitor activity reports, and promotional analysis reports.
Analysis Reports, New Products, and Forward Share
- Customer Relations: Maintain and build solid trade relationships with key customers while identifying new customer and sales opportunities within your defined Area.
- Product Expansion: Identify opportunities to increase numeric and weighted distribution of both existing and new products within the customer base. Stay updated on customer needs, product trends, competitor activity, and new product innovations.
- Professional Development: Enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal/professional networks.

Qualifications
Candidate Profile: Qualifications / Technical Skills
- A Diploma/Degree in Sales and Marketing or a related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- At least 2 years of sales experience within the FMCG/Office Products environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
