Key Responsibilities
As the Sales Manager, you will oversee a diverse range of responsibilities to maximize revenue and market presence in Nairobi and beyond. Specific accountabilities include:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute strategic direction for sales teams to achieve and exceed commercial targets.
- Optimize resource allocation, skills, and activities within assigned territories to drive profitability and reduce costs.
- Lead sales planning and formulate action plans in collaboration with head office and regional stakeholders.
Revenue Optimization
- Design and implement sales strategies to increase Qatar Airways’ revenue and presence within key, strategic, and national accounts.
- Develop B2B strategies with the sales team to maximize revenue from existing accounts while generating new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with regional and head office teams to create short- and medium-term sales incentives tailored to local markets.
Channel Management
- Align distribution channels with Qatar Airways’ overarching distribution strategy to ensure cohesive execution.
- Negotiate and finalize B2B agreements such as PLBs (Performance Linked Bonuses), JMFs (Joint Marketing Funds), commissions, and corporate contracts.
Relationship Management
- Maintain strong, high-level relationships with key stakeholders, including industry bodies, diplomatic missions, governments, and airports.
- Serve as the primary legal representative in assigned territories.
Brand Presence and Marketing
- Work closely with the Digital and Marketing teams to ensure optimal exposure and brand presence in assigned territories.
- Drive tactical revenue opportunities by analyzing management information and network data.
Customer Experience
- Act as the Customer Champion, influencing service standards to deliver exceptional experiences.
- Leverage partnerships (e.g., hotels and car hire services) to maximize sales opportunities.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor adherence to corporate policies and procedures developed in consultation with head office.
- Oversee and manage expenditure budgets to ensure a high return on investment.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in the Sales Manager role, candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- A minimum of 6 years of job-related experience, preferably in the travel or aviation industry.
- Extensive experience in selling airline products and driving commercial performance.
Skills and Expertise
- Strong understanding of the geographical and travel market dynamics of Nairobi, Kenya.
- Proven ability to plan and set budgets effectively.
- Strategic thinking and excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
