Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Safety Specialist (Fire Truck Driving Specialty), where you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and facilities. This position is essential in maintaining our commitment to safety and compliance with fire safety regulations. As a Safety Specialist, you will develop and implement fire safety plans, conduct risk assessments, and lead emergency response efforts.

Position Summary

We are seeking two dedicated Safety Specialists with expertise in fire truck driving to join our team. This role is vital in promoting a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with all fire safety regulations. The ideal candidates will have extensive experience in fire safety, emergency response, and driving fire trucks.

Responsibilities

Fire Safety Plans and Policies

  • Develop and update comprehensive fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all fire safety plans comply with local and national regulations.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of fire safety policies to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.

Facility Inspections and Risk Assessments

  • Conduct thorough inspections of company buildings and facilities to identify potential fire hazards.
  • Perform detailed fire risk assessments and provide actionable recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with facility managers to implement fire safety measures and mitigate risks.

Fire Equipment and Systems Maintenance

  • Ensure all fire equipment, including extinguishers, alarms, and sprinkler systems, are regularly inspected and maintained.
  • Oversee the installation, repair, and replacement of fire safety equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections and maintenance activities.

Training and Drills

  • Provide regular fire safety training for employees, including the use of fire extinguishers and emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Organize and conduct regular fire drills, evaluate their effectiveness, and suggest improvements.
  • Develop training materials and programs to enhance fire safety awareness among employees.

Emergency Response and Fire Truck Driving

  • Coordinate and manage emergency response actions in the event of a fire or other emergencies.
  • Drive the fire truck to the scene of the fire, ensuring equipment and personnel arrive promptly.
  • Maintain contact with local fire departments and other emergency response agencies to ensure timely and effective emergency handling.

Records and Reporting

  • Maintain all fire safety-related records and reports, including inspection logs, training records, and emergency drill reports.
  • Regularly report to management on fire safety status and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible for audits and inspections.

Compliance with Regulations and Standards

  • Stay informed about relevant fire safety laws and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant.
  • Advise management on changes to fire safety regulations and provide guidance on compliance.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes.

Promoting a Safety Culture

  • Promote a safety culture within the company, ensuring all employees understand and prioritize fire safety.
  • Lead by example and encourage proactive fire safety practices among staff.
  • Develop and distribute fire safety communications to keep employees informed and engaged.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Extensive experience working in fire stations and driving fire trucks.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to conduct detailed inspections and risk assessments.
  • Proficient in emergency response coordination and management.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment

  • This role involves working in various company facilities, conducting inspections, and participating in emergency response activities.
  • The position requires a combination of office work, training sessions, and hands-on emergency response.
  • Safety Specialists must be prepared to respond to emergencies at any time and may be required to work outside of regular business hours.
