Position: Senior Accountant (REF: SA/08/23) Location: Nairobi, Kenya Type: Contract – Two (2) Years Application Deadline: August 28, 2023

Role Overview

As the Senior Accountant, you’ll report directly to the Finance Manager and play a crucial role in managing the FOSA department. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of financial functions, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory adherence, and excellence in customer service.

Responsibilities

Efficient Department Management

• Supervise FOSA staff and oversee department operations.
• Coordinate cash collections, ensuring accurate recording and reporting.
• Design, administer, and interpret FOSA policies and procedures.

Compliance and Financial Integrity

• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets for optimal control.
• Oversee cash payments, treasury management, and accurate transactions.

Product Development and Growth

• Innovate demand-driven FOSA-related products and services.
• Manage FOSA loans and advances, driving income growth.

Reporting and Team Leadership

• Prepare comprehensive FOSA reports and product consumption data.
• Mentor and guide FOSA staff to achieve strategic goals.

Security and Risk Management

• Safeguard cash office security and adhere to insurance protocols.
• Identify irregularities and collaborate on appropriate actions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Co-operative Management, Banking, Accounting, Business, or Economics from a recognized University.
• CPA (K) qualification; ICPAK membership in good standing.
• ACCA Final (an added advantage).
• Minimum 5 years’ finance experience in a Deposit-Taking Sacco, with at least 3 years in FOSA management/supervisory role.
• Familiarity with Co-operative Act, SACCO Act, SASRA requirements, and IFRS.
• Proficiency in MS Dynamics Navision.
