Key Roles & Responsibilities

As the Chief Executive Officer of the Union and the secretary to the Board, you will play a pivotal role in driving the organization’s growth and excellence. Your responsibilities will encompass:

Leadership & Management

  • Spearheading the implementation of Union policies directed by the Board of Directors.
  • Overseeing all subsidiaries, departments, and functional units for effective administration.
  • Providing visionary leadership to internal management teams.
  • Furnishing technical insights to the Board and sub-committees to shape policies and reviews.
  • Establishing robust plans, procedures, systems, and controls for seamless operations and Union objectives’ achievement.

Optimal Resource Utilization

  • Crafting organizational structures to maximize resource utilization.
  • Ensuring optimal staff supervision for institutional effectiveness.
  • Upholding staff administration in line with HR policies and employment laws.
  • Advising the Board on staff recruitment and deployment strategies.

Cultivating a Productive Culture

  • Cultivating a results-driven culture within the Union.
  • Instilling an environment of productivity and accomplishment.

Strategic Oversight

  • Developing frameworks to analyze business results for strategy refinement.
  • Staying informed about Union undertakings and influential factors.
  • Enabling informed decision-making by ensuring comprehensive information flow.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Establishing effective communication channels with stakeholders.
  • Guiding the preparation and execution of annual work plans, budgets, and procurement plans.
  • Presenting management reports to the Union Board.

Annual Delegates Meeting

  • Collaborating with the Board Chairman to organize the annual delegates meeting.
  • Crafting meeting agendas and schedules.

Adaptive Duties

  • Responding to additional assignments delegated by the Board of Directors.

Skills, Competencies, and Experience

To flourish in this role, the incumbent should possess the following attributes:

Educational Background & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field from a recognized university.
  • Preferably in Co-operatives management, agribusiness, accounting/finance, Economics, or Business administration.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ senior management experience in a bustling agribusiness, preferably in the coffee sub-sector.
  • Membership in Professional Organizations will be an added advantage.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Profound analytical ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Skillful data collection and research capabilities.
  • Intuitive decision-making complemented by data interpretation.
  • Proficiency in designing workflows and procedures.
