Our Data Team is a dynamic, collaborative group of data engineers, analysts, and product managers committed to leveraging data to drive actionable insights. We play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the ALX community by analyzing learner engagement, academic performance, and reward metrics. We aim to empower our internal teams with robust data insights and decision-making tools, driving us toward the ambitious goal of educating 2 million learners by 2030.


About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Reward Data Analyst Intern to join our team and contribute to our Legacy Rewards Program. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about data analytics and keen to contribute to our engagement and rewards strategy.

As a Reward Data Analyst Intern, you will collaborate with the Legacy Rewards Team, engineers, and product managers to ensure that the data driving our rewards programs is accurate, up-to-date, and strategically utilized.


Key Responsibilities

Legacy Point Allocation

  • Collaborate with the Legacy Reward Team to define new Legacy Point Actions and calculate points allocation across various reward initiatives.
  • Calculate and ensure appropriate points allocation, aligning it with program goals and metrics.
  • Award points within the system based on calculations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Test point allocations to verify correct distribution, identifying and resolving discrepancies where necessary.
  • Engage stakeholders to obtain input and sign-off on points allocation before final implementation.

Data Management, Reporting & Insights

  • Manage and integrate data within the Rewards Dashboard, ensuring it accurately reflects current program activities and key metrics.
  • Regularly update and maintain the Rewards Dashboard, incorporating new data and generating timely insights.
  • Enhance the Legacy Rewards Dashboard, providing actionable insights that allow the team to monitor daily operations and track user engagement.
  • Build and develop reporting structures to deliver clear, actionable insights, including regular and ad-hoc reports tailored to the needs of the Legacy Rewards Program.
  • Analyze data to inform point allocation, reward decisions, and strategic initiatives, providing detailed assessments to the Legacy Reward Team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine data processes and ensure comprehensive, clear insights in reporting structures.

Operations & Support

  • Address and resolve backlog issues related to incorrect point logging or allocations.
  • Support servicing queries related to incorrect or missing point allocations, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Streamline data processes, identifying inefficiencies and improving the operational efficiency of the Legacy Reward Program.
  • Clean and validate data to ensure accuracy and integrity, contributing to reliable reporting and informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A passion for data manipulation and analytics, with a desire to learn and grow within the field.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, or other data management tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.
