Key Responsibilities

As a Resettlement Intake Associate, you will be responsible for the following essential functions:

  • Prepare individual comprehensive physical case files for clients, ensuring that all intake forms are completed accurately and filed correctly for resettlement consideration.
  • Compile monthly updates of cases referred for resettlement consideration to external partners, keeping all stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions for clients under resettlement consideration, providing support and guidance throughout the process.
  • Maintain case entries in the Case Management System (CMS) for all cases under resettlement consideration, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Complete various resettlement submission forms required for case processing.
  • Support the development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials related to resettlement, enhancing client understanding of the process.
  • Present cases for deliberation at the Resettlement Multi-functional Case Review Panel, recording discussions and outcomes for future reference.
  • Conduct child-friendly interviews in accordance with Best Interest Procedures (BIP), ensuring a sensitive approach to vulnerable populations.
  • Prepare comprehensive Best Interest Assessment (BIA) reports and present them to relevant panels for evaluation.
  • Compile Best Interest Determination (BID) reports and present them for consideration at BID panels.
  • Prepare project reports to assess the effectiveness of resettlement initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals and objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • A University Degree in Law, International Studies, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in a refugee-related context or in a non-governmental organization (NGO) environment, with preference for candidates with experience in refugee resettlement.
  • Familiarity with the international legal framework governing refugees and human rights law.
  • Understanding of Best Interest Procedures (BIP) is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse populations.
  • Strong interviewing and counseling abilities, particularly in engaging with refugee populations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and diplomacy skills to navigate sensitive situations.
  • Proficient advocacy and research skills, aiding in case preparation and client support.
  • Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the refugee or humanitarian sector.
  • Additional languages spoken would be an advantage.
