The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is seeking a Research Associate III to support the Policy Engagement Specialist in the Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) project and Kenya’s activities for the One CGIAR initiative on Low Emission Food Systems (Mitigate+).

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supporting AICCRA Theme 1 Activities
    • Organizing meetings with national and regional partners such as AGNES and Eastern African Farmers Federation.
    • Assisting in capacity building for climate change negotiators and co-developing knowledge products to support climate negotiations.
    • Contributing to writing AICCRA Theme 1 publications, including info notes, journal articles, and outreach products.
    • Assisting with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for AICCRA Theme 1.
  2. Coordination of Low Emissions Food System Initiative (Mitigate+) in Kenya
    • Engaging stakeholders through workshops, breakout discussions, and writing workshop output reports.
    • Supporting resource mobilization efforts with background research and proposal writing.
  3. Other Responsibilities
    • Performing any other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, animal science, climate change, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience.
  • Theoretical background in climate impacts on agriculture and food systems.
  • Experience and knowledge in Kenya stakeholder engagement processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.

Position Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Terms of Appointment

  • Job Level: HG12
  • Open to Kenyan nationals only.
  • 3-year contract, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
