Job Overview

VisionFund Kenya Limited, a fast-growing financial service company and an investment of World Vision Kenya, is seeking a highly competent, proactive, and self-driven Relationship Officer to join the Kitale Branch. As a part of our team, the successful candidate will manage customer relationships, grow our portfolio, and ensure adherence to credit management best practices. This role will contribute directly to achieving organizational objectives and upholding VisionFund Kenya’s mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management:
    Effectively manage and grow the customer portfolio in line with the set targets, ensuring quality control and financial stability. The officer will focus on meeting portfolio growth objectives through both repeat and new borrowers.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing tailored financial solutions and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Address customer care issues at both group and individual levels.
  • Credit Appraisal and Monitoring:
    Conduct thorough credit appraisals and assessments in line with institutional guidelines. Ensure all loans meet quality standards and monitor ongoing loan performance to prevent defaults.
  • Marketing and Client Recruitment:
    Actively market VisionFund’s financial products and recruit new clients. Use marketing strategies to increase client numbers and maintain positive relationships with existing customers.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    Adhere to all organizational policies, including accurate reporting of loan performance and customer interactions. Ensure compliance with VisionFund Kenya’s credit processes and operational procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Required Skills and Attributes:
    • Portfolio Management: Strong understanding of loan portfolio quality and performance metrics, ensuring targets for outstanding loan balances (OLB), new borrowers, and repeat borrowers are met.
    • Communication and Negotiation: Excellent interpersonal skills to handle negotiations, appraisals, and client recruitment. Ability to clearly communicate VisionFund’s value propositions.
    • Sales and Marketing: Proven marketing abilities with the capability to recruit new clients, explain product offerings, and maintain existing relationships.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to address customer concerns and issues efficiently while maintaining the organization’s reputation.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • A minimum of one-year experience in a credit-related role within a financial institution.
    • Candidates must exhibit a determined personality with the initiative and perseverance to meet targets.
    • Strong ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues and customers.

Personal Attributes

  • A practicing and professing Christian whose conduct aligns with VisionFund Kenya’s core values and mission.
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity, ensuring reliability and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated, even if a form four leaver, with a passion for sales, communication, and credit management.
