Overview:
Terre des Hommes Netherlands invites passionate communicators to join our mission as a Regional Communications Intern based in Nairobi, Kenya. This national internship is open to candidates with the right to live and work in Kenya.

Background:
In 2022, we launched our 2023-2030 Listen up! Strategy, aiming for systemic change addressing root causes of child exploitation. We empower children, connect communities, engage in lobby & advocacy, work with partners, and co-create sustainable solutions. In Africa, we operate in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Madagascar, focusing on preventing child exploitation in all its forms.
Objectives of the Internship:
The communication intern will support the implementation of communication plans in five countries to raise visibility, strengthen TdH NL’s positioning, and enhance our reputation. Collaborating with the Senior Regional Communications Officer, you’ll play a vital role in preventing and responding to child exploitation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implementation Support:
- Assist in executing global and regional communication strategies.
- Collaborate on internal and external communication activities.
- Contribute to the adoption of TdH NL’s new brand identity.
- Content Review and Production:
- Review external communication materials for compliance.
- Assist in creating high-quality communication materials.
- Ensure adherence to TdH NL standards and donor guidelines.
- Social Media Management:
- Build a robust regional social media presence.
- Develop, schedule, and publish engaging content.
- Monitor user engagement and track performance metrics.
- Newsletter Creation:
- Prepare monthly newsletters showcasing TdH NL’s work.
- Website Maintenance:
- Update content on the TdH NL website.
- Storytelling:
- Collect, write, and publish impactful case stories.
- Event Support:
- Provide communications support during field visits and events.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Complete assigned duties as needed.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or multimedia.
- Experience in social media, web content management, and graphic design.
- Computer literacy, especially with Google Cloud applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; French proficiency is a plus.
- Photography and videography skills are advantageous.
