Recruitment Opportunity: Supervisors and Agri-preneurs in Agriculture & Cooperative Development

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Veterinary Services, Irrigation & Cooperative Development in Kisii County is excited to announce a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to join the team as Agricultural Value Chain actors – Supervisors & Agri-preneurs. This collaborative effort with the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) offers a temporary one-month placement at the County level.


Assistant Ward-Based Supervisors: Nurturing Growth (12 Positions)

To qualify for the role of Assistant Ward-Based Supervisor, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in tablet usage are essential.
  • Fluent communication in Kiswahili/English is mandatory; proficiency in the Local Dialect is a plus.
  • You should currently serve as a County Government staff member, preferably with a frontline/field service role.
  • Inclusion in similar data collection exercises is advantageous.
  • Your pivotal role involves supporting the ward-based supervisor in overseeing operations.


Ward-Based Supervisors: Guiding Excellence (45 Positions)

For the position of Ward-Based Supervisor, the following qualifications are required:

  • Hold a Degree from a recognized University, ideally in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, Social Sciences, or Community Development.
  • Proficiency in computer usage, including tablet applications, is crucial.
  • Fluency in Kiswahili, English, and the Local Dialect is necessary.
  • Current employment within the ward you will supervise is preferred.
  • Experience in extension and data collection will give you a competitive edge.


Senior Supervisors: Leading Impact (11 Positions)

To be considered for the role of Senior Supervisor, the following criteria apply:

  • A Degree from a recognized University, preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, or Social Sciences.
  • Competency in computer operation and tablet use is a requirement.
  • Proficiency in both Kiswahili and English is mandatory.
  • Preferential consideration for County Government staff, particularly civil servants.
  • Experience in personnel management, supervision, extension, and data collection is a significant advantage.


Agri-preneurs/Enumerators: Fueling Agriculture (594 Positions)

Aspiring Agri-preneurs/Enumerators need to meet the following prerequisites:

  • Age between 20-45 years, with a valid national ID.
  • Residence within the relevant Ward of registration.
  • Post-secondary qualifications in Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Demonstrable experience in Agriculture, Agri-business, and farmer interactions.
  • Ownership of a smartphone and proficient computer skills are mandatory.
  • Fluent communication in Kiswahili, English, and the local dialect is essential.
  • Dedication to full-time involvement, coupled with expertise in community mobilization and farmer training, is crucial.

  2. Hand-deliver your application between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to either the Ward Administrator’s offices or the CECM’s office. The latter is situated opposite the Kisii County Commissioner’s Office in Kisi. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on 29th August 2023.
