Job Title: Quality Assurance Assistant (FSMS – ISO 22000:2018)

Job Summary

As a Quality Assurance Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 22000:2018 standards. You will play a key role in conducting audits, monitoring production processes, and ensuring that quality standards are met at every stage of the manufacturing process.

This position requires a deep understanding of food safety protocols, quality control procedures, and strong attention to detail. If you are someone who is highly organized, proactive, and passionate about maintaining high standards in food safety, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular audits of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 22000:2018 standards.
• Monitor production processes to ensure that all products meet quality assurance and food safety requirements.
• Identify and document any non-conformities and implement corrective actions to address them.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to food safety and quality.
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure that quality control checks are carried out at each stage of production.
• Maintain accurate records of all quality assurance activities, including audit reports, corrective actions, and product testing results.
• Assist in staff training on quality and food safety standards to ensure that all team members are aware of their responsibilities in maintaining product quality.
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
• Support the continuous improvement of the FSMS by identifying areas for enhancement and recommending new processes or technologies to improve food safety and quality.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential food safety hazards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience working in a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) environment, preferably within the food processing industry.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 22000:2018 standards and their application in food safety management.
• Proven ability to conduct audits, identify non-conformities, and implement corrective actions.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records related to quality assurance activities.
• Experience in training staff on food safety and quality standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills

• Certification in ISO 22000:2018 or other relevant food safety standards.
• Experience with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles.
• Knowledge of risk management and mitigation strategies in food production.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to food safety in Kenya and international markets.
