Overview Are you passionate about public health and surveillance? Join us as a Senior Public Health Specialist in Nairobi, Kenya, and contribute to global health initiatives.

Duties In this role, you’ll lead Global Health Program activities, working on respiratory and other pathogen surveillance, prevention, and control. Your responsibilities include advising, researching, and assisting in the development of readiness strategies to detect, respond, and manage outbreaks and emerging infectious diseases. Collaboration with partners, improving laboratory support, and engaging with health ministries will be key aspects of your work.

Qualifications & Evaluations

Requirements

  • Experience: You should have three years of mid-to-senior level public health experience with international coordination.
  • Job Knowledge: Technical knowledge of epidemiology, respiratory and non-respiratory pathogens, and infectious disease programs is crucial.
  • Education: A Doctoral level degree (DrPH, MD, PhD) in relevant fields like public health, epidemiology, or medicine is required.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English (Level 4 – Fluent) and Kiswahili (Level 3 – Good working knowledge) is necessary.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong communication skills, leadership abilities, and proficiency in MS Office and statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, STATA, or R) are vital.
