Project Support Officer
Location: Nairobi with frequent travel to project sites.
Job Purpose:
As a Project Support Officer at Optiven, you will play a pivotal role in driving our business growth strategy through the effective implementation of project value addition plans and strategies on a day-to-day basis. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will work closely with project managers to analyze reports, execute project work strategies, and ensure timely completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with project managers to analyze reports and execute project work strategies.
- Assist in proper project planning, including clear budgets and timely projections.
- Track project costs to meet budget requirements.
- Recruit qualified staff to manage workload and handle petty cash for labor wages.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with caretakers and casual laborers to ensure effective performance.
- Maintain a list of all site property and assets, ensuring their safety and good condition.
- Manage relationships with current customers and prioritize excellent customer service.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to safety and health regulations across all project sites.
- Collaborate with the HR department and project managers to implement safety measures.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Develop project master plans under the guidance of project managers.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating project progress.
- Share daily and weekly reports on value additions, incidents, defects, and casuals engaged with management.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of project management experience.
- Experience managing projects through the full life cycle.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Familiarity with project management software, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and work independently or cooperatively.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness.
