Introduction to Heifer International
Heifer International is a leading Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to eradicating hunger and poverty while caring for the environment. We empower farming communities to boost their livestock and crop productivity, enabling them to secure sustainable incomes. Our holistic approach not only strengthens local economies but also enhances food security, ultimately improving the well-being of families and their communities.
In collaboration with Cargill Inc. and the International Poultry Council, we are spearheading the USAID-funded TRANSFORM Project. By improving farm productivity, increasing access to animal-sourced nutrition, and supporting local farmers, we aim to safeguard global health security and enhance livelihoods across Kenya.
Project Overview
The TRANSFORM Project is part of USAID’s Health Security Program, focusing on protecting human health by improving animal production practices. The project is vital for controlling antimicrobial resistance and preventing the spread of transboundary animal diseases.
