Position Background

MSF’s social mission is supported and financed by 7 million private donors. Fundraising is a decentralized function managed autonomously in 38 MSF entities by more than 1,000 fundraisers. The fundraising efforts in MSF are coordinated and supported by the international fundraising platform (DirFund) and the international fundraising team at the MSF International office.

The finance efforts in MSF are coordinated and supported by the international finance platform (DirFin) and the international finance team at the MSF International office.

The capacity-building strategy within the network aims to capitalize on MSF’s collective intelligence by creating a collaborative and learning community that supports, inspires, and empowers one another.


Place in the Organization

This temporary assignment is for the international fundraising team, specifically the capacity-building area. The position reports to the Fundraising Capacity Building and Innovation Lead.


Objectives of the Position

The main purpose of the Project Manager, Capacity Building position is to implement specific projects related to the Fundraising International Portal (based on Pamoja) and the Peer-to-Peer support program.


Main Responsibilities

1. Lead, Coordinate, and Implement New Developments on the Fundraising Portal (Pamoja):

  • Lead and implement projects for developing and improving the Fundraising web portal.
  • Re-design and develop new web pages for all fundraising communities of practice (CoP). Analyze common needs and create a standardized yet adaptable model. Collaborate closely with CoP sponsors and under the supervision of the Knowledge and Community Development Advisor.
  • Manage the ‘Shopping List’ project on the Fundraising Portal. Identify stakeholders in each department (fundraising, supply, logistics, and medical), define roles and activity timelines throughout the year, including emergencies. Improve the page design for better user-friendliness and visual appeal. Create a plan to promote the new page, engage the TEAMS group and define an annual update plan.
  • Coordinate projects for new developments and improvements, such as a merchandising site, onboarding site enhancements, and process improvements.

2. Design a Proposal for an International Mobility Framework:

  • Analyze existing mobility frameworks for HQ staff in operational centers and/or MSF sections.
  • Propose a mobility policy for the fundraising community based on the analysis.
  • Design an implementation project considering various stakeholders, promotion plan, and processes.

3. Support Project Management of Other Capacity Building Projects:

  • Assist in the design and/or launch of new projects such as virtual field visits for the fundraising community, a buddy program for newcomers, and a buddy program for problem-solving within Communities of Practice.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or University Degree in Social Sciences or a related field will be valued.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising with MSF.
  • Computer competency, including experience with SharePoint and other Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and produce quality results.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a network and in a multicultural environment.
