About the Role: Project Manager
Location: Kakuma/Kalobeyei, Kenya

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for achieving the project’s objectives in Kakuma/Kalobeyei, overseeing all aspects of project management through each project phase in accordance with FCA and donor policies and procedures. You will manage the project team, project resources, and coordinate across FCA’s wider operations team. You will also contribute to the organization’s growth by identifying new funding and organizational development opportunities.
Key Areas of Accountability
Program Planning
- Lead Project Planning: Coordinate all project activities in collaboration with the operations team and implementing partners to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Continuous Oversight: Identify needs for adjustments to improve efficiency and optimize resource utilization.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with donors, partners, and relevant parties.
- Staff Management: Ensure tasks are carried out per FCA’s and donor’s policies, including recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
- Weekly Meetings: Conduct weekly project team meetings to review activities and agree on deliverables.
- Financial Management: Review financial glidepaths monthly, manage budget lines, and ensure compliance with donor regulations.
- Implementation and Procurement Plans: Develop plans with the Program Coordinator and other education team members.
- Monitoring Tools: Prepare and revise project monitoring tools with the MEAL team.
Program Implementation
- Design and Manage Projects: Oversee education projects, including education in emergencies, accelerated learning programs, and youth education.
- Activity Implementation: Ensure project activities are implemented efficiently and sustainably.
- Community Engagement: Develop and implement modalities to strengthen school management and community mobilization.
- Material Distribution: Oversee the distribution of textbooks and instructional materials.
- Data Collection: Regularly collect data to track project performance and impact.
- Documentation and Sharing: Document and share good practices and lessons for wider dissemination.
Reporting, Monitoring & Evaluation
- Field-Based Monitoring: Collate monitoring data regularly for reporting and decision-making.
- Data Collection: Work with the MEAL team to generate practical information for program decisions.
- Progress Reports: Assist in preparing periodic progress reports for internal and external use.
- Regular Updates: Provide regular updates on activities, expenses, purchases, and staffing.
Program Support Operations
- Operational Coordination: Ensure operational systems support field activities, including logistics, procurement, security, and administration.
- Integration with Other Programs: Coordinate with other FCA programs for smooth and efficient project implementation.
- Representation: Represent FCA in sectoral coordination, emergency meetings, and working groups.
- Proposal Development: Support in developing proposals and managing education projects using innovative approaches.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in the education sector, particularly in refugee programming.
- Knowledge: Understanding of education in emergencies, education sector policy, child rights, and protection issues.
- Skills: Facilitation of community-based training, capacity building, and awareness campaigns.
- Language: Fluent in English, Kiswahili, and local languages in the camps and host community.
- Reporting Skills: Strong report writing capabilities.
- Flexibility: Ability to work in difficult and frustrating conditions.
- Commitment: Adherence to Finn Church Aid Child Protection Policy.
Desirable Qualifications
- INGO Experience: Previous work with INGOs delivering education services.
- Teamwork: Demonstrated teamwork skills.
- Motivation: High level of enthusiasm for education.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Refugee Dynamics: Understanding of refugee dynamics.
- Community Engagement: Experience working with communities and agencies supporting education.
- Digital Learning: Experience in delivering digital/virtual learning programs.
