Project Overview:

In February 2024, Saferworld embarks on the implementation of the “Strengthening Integrated Peace, Resilience, and Disaster Risk Reduction for Cross-Border Communities in the Karamoja Cluster.” This transformative project aims to enhance conflict prevention, resilience building, and disaster risk reduction in the border region of the Karamoja Cluster, specifically focusing on South Omo/Ethiopia, Turkana/Kenya, and Eastern Equatoria/South Sudan.

Job Purpose:

Position: Project Manager
Location: Turkana (Field-Based with Frequent Travels)

The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of this transformative project. This leadership position entails overseeing grant management, providing technical expertise, and coordinating the overall program. Key Responsibilities:

Programme Management, Quality, and Impact

  • Provide visionary leadership for effective project management in alignment with Saferworld and donor requirements.

  • Promptly conduct planning, budgeting, and reporting to uphold quality standards.
  • Identify areas for additional inputs to ensure high-quality programming.

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Take overall responsibility for project financial management, ensuring activities stay within budget.
  • Facilitate monthly grant management meetings and coordinate financial reporting to donors.

People Management

  • Line manage project team members and external consultants.
  • Implement performance management and learning and development plans for line-managed staff.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning

  • Play a lead role in Saferworld’s Knowledge and Learning strategy, focusing on climate, conflict, and environmental degradation.

Networking and Representation

  • Represent Saferworld in external meetings and collaborate strategically with civil society partners and stakeholders.
