Summary of the Position

Position Title: Attachee
Location: KU Boma Estate, Juja
Duration of Contract: 6 months
Work Percentage: 100% (Full Time)
Languages: Fluent in English and Swahili
Expected Starting Date: June 2024
Reporting to: Head of Programmes

Introduction

Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Kenya, a national network of 61 organizations, is dedicated to promoting agroecological practices and principles among smallholder farmers and pastoralists for improved livelihoods. We are currently seeking a motivated and dedicated Programmes Attachee to join our team. The attachee will be based at the Country Secretariat offices in Juja, Kenya, and will play a crucial role in supporting various programme staff in their work.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Programme Support: Assist in supporting programme implementation work both in the field and in the office.
  2. Document Preparation: Prepare and provide meeting/event documents, including agendas, programs, and supporting documents.
  3. Meeting Support: Assist in preparing meeting notes, workshop reports, and presentations as required.
  4. Project Implementation: Assist in the implementation of short-term projects.
  5. Logistics Support: Support in the logistics of different activities, including programme meetings and events organized by PELUM-Kenya.
  6. Data Compilation: Compile data related to attendances in meetings and events.
  7. Photo Management: Capture, caption, and store activity photos in a designated folder/server.
  8. Administrative Tasks: Assist program officers in photocopying, printing, and filing necessary documents.
  9. Financial Support: Assist in the preparation and follow-up on programme budgets, payment requests, and surrenders.
  10. Coordination: Assist Zonal Coordinators (PELUM Kenya in the Field) and pursue matters that require attention at the Secretariat.
  11. Additional Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Requirements, Minimum Qualifications & Credentials

  • Currently studying a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, environment, natural resource management, climate change, project management, or related fields.
  • A short course related to agroecology will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work flexibly, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player with the ability to undertake tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible to travel to the field when required.
  • Interest in Community and social development.
