Job Summary: Programme Manager – Women’s Rights and Governance
Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Main Purpose
The Programme Manager for Women’s Rights and Governance will provide strategic direction, growth, and coordination of AAIK’s engagement with national social movements and coalitions for policy influencing on women’s rights issues. This role will ensure that the Women’s Rights and Governance programming is of excellent technical quality, attracts significant donor funding, and contributes to AAIK’s strategic objectives, national/global learning, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Management
- Lead the strategic direction and growth of the Women’s Rights and Governance programmes.
- Develop and manage partnerships with national social movements and coalitions.
- Ensure that programmes are aligned with AAIK’s strategic objectives and global policies.
Programme Quality and Development
- Ensure high technical quality of Women’s Rights and Governance programming.
- Oversee programme implementation and project management to ensure timely delivery of objectives.
- Develop and manage donor relationships to secure funding.
Advocacy and Campaigns
- Lead advocacy and campaigns on women’s rights and governance issues.
- Collaborate with influential coalitions and networks to drive policy change.
- Represent AAIK in national and global forums to advocate for women’s rights.
Capacity Building and Learning
- Facilitate capacity building for staff and partners on women’s rights and governance issues.
- Ensure documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learned.
- Contribute to national and global learning and advocacy on women’s rights and governance.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, policy development, or a related field from a recognized university.
- A minimum of six (6) years of post-academic experience in women’s rights and governance programming.
- Demonstrable experience working within influential coalitions and networks.
- Proven experience in advocacy and campaigns related to women’s rights and governance.
- Experience in programme implementation and project management is highly desirable.
