Position Overview

The Programme Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the Tushinde team in various programming functions. Reporting directly to the Programme Officer, the Programme Assistant will be involved in organizing community events, workshops, and meetings, as well as handling data collection, analysis, report writing, and administrative tasks. This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about advocating for children’s rights and contributing to community development.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning and Implementation

  • Assist in the planning and execution of various projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious completion.
  • Support Programme Officers and the Programme Manager in organizing and facilitating Community Days, Boys and Girls Forums, Holiday Camps, and other events.
  • Advocate for children’s rights and aid in the development of Tushinde’s programs.
  • Compile periodic program reports and facilitate community outreach awareness programs.
  • Document success stories to evaluate program effectiveness.

Data Management

  • Assist in data collection and analysis for all program activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and schedules.

Administrative Support

  • Ensure the proper filing and accuracy of crucial project documents.
  • Organize regular meetings with project members, take minutes, and ensure follow-up actions are completed.

Financial Management

  • Adhere to Tushinde Children’s Trust financial procedures and maintain high standards of accountability.
  • Coordinate the procurement of products and services as per approved budgets.
  • Support the timely preparation of budgets for events and activities under various donor budgets.

Partnership and Fundraising

  • Assist in mapping relevant partners and stakeholders.
  • Identify potential funders and donors to ensure program continuity.

General Duties

  • Perform any additional tasks as requested by the Programme Manager and the Executive Director that serve the best interests of the sponsored child.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, M&E, Social Sciences, or other relevant fields.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years in a similar role, with experience in project implementation. Fundraising and donor reporting experience is an added advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication, presentation, training, and report writing skills.
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a challenging environment.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google products.
  • Other Requirements:
    • A valid certificate of good conduct.
    • Passion for working with vulnerable children, youth, and adults.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Ksh. 25,652.00 per month (gross).
  • Benefits: Comprehensive individual health cover provided.
