Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to oversee the operations of our new flooring and decking production plant in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will lead the entire production process, from timber selection to final product delivery, ensuring efficiency, quality control, and compliance with safety regulations. The role requires a combination of strategic oversight, team leadership, and operational expertise to maintain production standards and meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee Daily Operations

• Manage production processes for flooring and decking products from start to finish, including timber selection and process optimization.
• Ensure the smooth running of the production line by aligning resources, materials, and schedules to meet output targets.

2. Quality Assurance

• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain the company’s high standards for flooring and decking products.
• Ensure that all products comply with industry regulations and meet client expectations.

3. Process Optimization

• Continuously evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and reduce waste, without compromising product quality.
• Use lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies to enhance production output.

4. Team Management

• Lead and supervise the production team, providing clear direction, feedback, and performance management.
• Train and mentor employees to ensure adherence to production standards and safety protocols.

5. Resource Management

• Effectively manage resources such as labor, materials, and equipment to meet production targets while minimizing costs.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure that the supply chain and inventory management are optimized for production needs.

6. Reporting and Communication

• Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality control, and operational efficiency to senior management.
• Provide actionable insights based on production data to improve decision-making.

7. Health and Safety Compliance

• Ensure that all production activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Foster a safe working environment by implementing safety protocols and conducting regular audits.

8. Budget Management

• Prepare and manage production budgets, tracking costs and making necessary adjustments to stay within financial constraints.
• Use data-driven insights to optimize cost-efficiency across the production line.

Qualifications

Required:

• Proven experience as a Production Manager, preferably in flooring, decking, or the woodworking industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of production management and quality control principles.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze production data and make informed decisions.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with lean manufacturing or other process improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with the timber industry, including knowledge of various types of wood used in flooring and decking.
