Kenya Institute of Supplies Management

The Kenya Institute of Supplies Management is a corporate body established through the Supplies Practitioners Management Act (SPMA), 2007. KISM is mandated to provide training, registration, and licensing of supplies practitioners while regulating their practice in Kenya. It serves as the national body for Procurement and Supply Chain Professionals in both private and public sectors.

Job Summary

As the Principal Marketing & Communication Officer, you will be responsible for managing the Institute’s strategic communications to enhance its visibility. Your role will involve developing, reviewing, and implementing communication strategies in alignment with the Institute’s objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Corporate Communications: Develop, implement, and review policies, procedures, frameworks, strategies, plans, legislations, standards, and regulations for corporate communications.
  2. Brand Promotion: Promote the corporate image of the Institute and implement branding, awareness, and social responsibility activities to enhance visibility.
  3. Content Validation: Validate the content of events and information for uploading on the Institute’s website.
  4. Media Management: Monitor and manage media coverage, submitting media reports as required.
  5. Event Organization: Organize the Institute’s public functions and corporate events.
  6. Information, Education, Communication (IEC): Develop and review IEC materials, including merchandise and promotional materials.
  7. Content Editing: Edit, review, and provide support in the design, production, and distribution of various communication materials such as newsletters, annual reports, speeches, publications, website contents, reports, outreach materials, and audio/video production.

Person Specifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, International Relations, Arts, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Master’s degree in Communication Studies, International Relations, Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communication, or equivalent is required.
  2. Professional Qualification: Possess a relevant professional qualification and membership to a relevant professional body (where applicable) in good standing.
  3. Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory position within a comparable organization.
  4. Management Course: Completed a management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
  5. Computer Proficiency: Proficient in computer applications.
  6. Chapter Six Requirements: Met the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
  7. Merit and Ability: Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
