About Digitalent
Digitalent is a key initiative of the ICT Authority of Kenya, under the auspices of the Ministry of Information, Communications, and The Digital Economy (MICDE). This strategic intervention aims to cultivate and sustain a pool of high-end ICT talent, aligning with the evolving demands of the local industry. The National ICT Master Plan emphasizes the need to develop a critical mass of ICT experts to meet industry needs effectively. Since its inception, the Digitalent Programme has successfully empowered over 2,900 ICT graduates, significantly enhancing their employability and technical skills.
Programme Objective
The primary goal of the Presidential Digital Talent Programme (PDTP) is to prepare young ICT graduates for future employment across ICT sectors and other industries. The programme offers a unique opportunity for participants to gain workplace experience, receive mentorship, expand their professional networks, and refine their career goals. The key specialization areas for the program include:
- Networks & Digital Infrastructure
- Software Development & Information Architecture (IA)
- Information Security
- Data Analytics
- Multimedia (ICT Graphics) & Digital Marketing
This comprehensive approach enables participants to become industry-ready professionals, contributing to Kenya’s vision of becoming a global ICT hub.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this prestigious program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Recent Graduates: Applicants must have graduated within the last two years (from January 2022) with a First Class or Upper Second-Class Honors (or the equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Pending Graduates: For those awaiting graduation in December 2024, a recommendation/reference letter from the university is required. This letter must be signed and stamped by the university and should indicate the expected degree classification (First Class or Upper Second-Class Honors).
- Degree Specialization: Recent graduates with degrees in BSc. ICT or Engineering disciplines such as Electrical & Electronics, Telecommunication, Software, Security are encouraged to apply. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following key areas:
- Networks & Digital Infrastructure
- Software Development & IA
- Information Security
- Data Analytics
- Multimedia (ICT Graphics) & Digital Marketing
Applicants may be required to demonstrate their technical competencies in these core areas during the interview process.
Additional Requirements
- Previous Internship: Applicants should not have participated in any government internship program and must be unemployed.
- Deployment: Candidates must be willing to work full-time in any government organization (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies – MDAs) within Kenya’s 47 counties. Working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Inclusivity: Females, persons with disabilities, and graduates from ASAL (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands) regions are strongly encouraged to apply.

Step 2: Online Application

Step 3: Completing the Application Form
Ensure that the application form is duly completed and that all the required documents are attached before submission.
Documents Required
Applicants are required to upload the following documents:
- National ID Card/Passport
- Passport-sized photo
- KCSE certificate
- Degree certificate
- Certificate of good conduct
Failure to provide the correct information may lead to disqualification. Providing false or misleading information is a serious offense that can result in a fine of up to Kshs. 200,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, or both, as stipulated by the law.
Important Notes for International Graduates
- Foreign University Graduates: Graduates with degrees from foreign universities must attach a verification certificate from the Kenya National Qualification Authority (KNQA).
- Language Requirements: For certificates issued in a language other than English, an official English translation from the respective embassy must be attached.
- GPA Conversion: Graduates from institutions that use GPA grading systems must provide an official document indicating the Kenyan GPA equivalent. For example, Upper Second-Class Honors must be translated into a GPA equivalent.
- Pending Certificate: Graduates awaiting their certificate should submit a recommendation letter signed and stamped by the Dean of Students, verifying that they are expected to receive First Class or Upper Second-Class Honors.
