Position Details

• Job Title: Oncology Nurse
• Reports to: Oncology Unit-In-Charge
• Job Location: Premier Hospital

Job Purpose

As an Oncology Nurse reporting to the Unit Manager, your role is pivotal in providing nursing services, compassionate patient care, and contributing to nursing research and training at Premier Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

As an Oncology Nurse, your responsibilities encompass:

1. Patient-Centric Care

• Create personalized care plans for cancer patients under your care.
• Identify and manage cancer-related medical issues.
• Record patient responses to treatment and medications.
• Provide attentive care to inpatient and outpatient cancer-diagnosed patients.

2. Support and Education

• Educate and support patients’ families about treatment expectations.
• Administer chemotherapy treatments.
• Effectively manage chemotherapy side effects.

3. Monitoring and Documentation

• Monitor patient progress and maintain accurate records.
• Conduct comprehensive health assessments for cancer patients.
• Interpret laboratory and diagnostic findings for informed care decisions.

4. Research and Training

• Participate in cancer prevention and early detection initiatives.
• Utilize research findings to enhance care within the oncology unit.

5. Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Valid Practice License as an Oncology Nurse.
• BLS and ACLS Certification.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Minimum of one (1) year working experience as an Oncology Nurse in a reputable health facility.
