Role Summary

The Plant Operator at Ol Pejeta Conservancy will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery such as graders, excavators, bulldozers, and other related equipment. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and safe operation of earth-moving equipment in line with company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate a variety of earth-moving equipment, including graders, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and more.
  • Perform tasks such as excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling.
  • Monitor equipment performance, gauges, and controls to ensure proper functioning and operational efficiency.

2. Maintenance and Repairs

  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment, ensuring continuous and reliable operation.
  • Report any complex maintenance issues to the maintenance team or supervisor for further action.

3. Safety and Compliance

  • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in compliance with regulatory standards and environmental requirements.

4. Efficiency and Productivity

  • Operate equipment efficiently to complete tasks on time and within project specifications.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and project managers to ensure alignment with project goals and deadlines.

5. Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment operation, maintenance activities, and any incidents or issues.
  • Complete necessary log sheets, reports, and checklists as required by company policies.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues.
  • Promptly communicate equipment problems to the supervisor for resolution.

7. Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to optimize equipment operations.
  • Assist in training new equipment operators as needed to ensure a high level of operational competency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum Education: O-levels with a professional driving license class for earthmoving equipment.
  • Professional Certification: Plant operator qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint for documentation and reporting purposes.
