The Work at the Foundation

The Opportunity

The Partner, Financial Planning & Analysis will support critical financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting, while collaborating with internal teams to enable informed financial decision-making.

This position offers the opportunity to drive operational efficiency and shape the Foundation’s financial strategies.


Key Responsibilities

As the Partner, Financial Planning & Analysis, you will:

  • Lead Budgeting Processes:
    • Manage key components of the annual budgeting process, including operating expenses, pipeline, commitments, and disbursements.
    • Collaborate with functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and Forecast Financial Performance:
    • Track progress against the annual budget and oversee the quarterly forecasting process.
    • Consolidate budget and forecast data for senior management review and multi-year planning.
  • Risk Analysis and Decision Support:
    • Identify financial risks and opportunities, providing effective solutions.
    • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses for internal and external purposes.
  • Management Reporting:
    • Analyze year-to-date results, including variance analysis, and prepare management reports.
    • Maintain and create reporting dashboards to enhance management visibility.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work with leaders across functions to provide financial expertise.
    • Develop policies, procedures, and training to improve financial management capabilities.
  • Governance Support:
    • Prepare Finance and Accounting materials for Board meetings.
    • Review financial figures included in cross-team materials.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, coupled with a CPA or CA certification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial roles within large not-for-profits, NGOs, or global organizations.
  • Proficiency in financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Expertise with financial modeling, report automation, and data visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of CRA regulatory requirements for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify and enhance operational processes for efficiency.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of French and/or local languages is a plus.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a commitment to fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • A flexible, adaptable approach to managing job duties and changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with cultural sensitivity.
