Parliament of Kenya invites applications for the Parliamentary Pupillage Programme, 2025. This prestigious opportunity is open to twelve (12) highly motivated Kenyan students currently enrolled in the Kenya School of Law. The programme is scheduled to commence in January 2025 and will run for a period of six (6) months.

Position Overview

The Parliamentary Pupillage Programme is an essential training ground for students aiming to develop their legal careers. As one of the institutions recognized by the Council of Legal Education (Admission) Regulations, 2007, the Parliament of Kenya provides a unique environment where pupils can gain invaluable experience in legislative processes and legal affairs.


Key Responsibilities

Participants in the Parliamentary Pupillage Programme will be expected to:

  • Engage actively in legislative research and the preparation of legal documents.
  • Assist in the drafting of parliamentary reports and other official documents.
  • Collaborate with senior legal professionals on complex legal issues and parliamentary procedures.
  • Participate in committee meetings and other parliamentary activities.
  • Contribute to the overall mission of the Parliamentary Service Commission by providing legal support and analytical insights.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree: Applicants must possess at least an Upper Second Class Honors from a recognized university.
  • Kenya School of Law Enrollment: Must be admitted to the Kenya School of Law ATP Academic Year 2024/2025 and scheduled to sit for the Kenya School of Law exams in November 2024.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated excellence in both English and Kiswahili, with a minimum grade of B plain in both subjects.
  • Proactive Attitude: A willingness to learn, be part of a dynamic team, and handle challenging tasks within set timelines.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using computers and relevant software is essential.

Interested candidates must complete the Parliamentary Service Commission Job Application Form (Form 1J). This form can be downloaded from the official Parliament of Kenya website at www.parliament.go.ke or obtained from the Commission reception desk at the Ground Floor, County Hall, Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, during office hours.

Required Documents:

  • A completed Parliamentary Service Commission Job Application Form (Form 1J).
  • A copy of the letter of admission to the Kenya School of Law.
  • Certified copies of academic certificates and testimonials.

  • Submission Format: All documents must be compiled into a single PDF file.
  • Submission Method: Email the PDF file to recruitment.pupils@gmail.com.
  • Application Deadline: Applications must be received on or before 31st August 2024.
