The Role

The Communication Assistant Intern will work closely with the Head of Executive Strategy & Communications to support the delivery of the communications strategy for the Oxfam International Executive Director. The learning and development plan will be jointly developed by the intern and their supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a renowned international organization committed to fighting global poverty and injustice.


What We’re Looking For

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background: Minimum undergraduate degree qualification in communications, public relations, strategic communications, journalism, international relations, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Professional Interest: Demonstrated desire to acquire technical professional experience in the INGO sector and an interest in philanthropy.
  • Knowledge Base: Knowledge of the global socio-economic and political environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with public communications/public relations work and strategies within civil society.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage workload and deadlines.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills.
  • Availability: Be able to start immediately (ideally between the end of August/ beginning of September).
