Job Purpose:

Join our dynamic team as an Operations Excellence Officer and play a crucial role in maintaining a professional work environment that fosters superior performance within our operations staff. Your mission will involve establishing effective systems, procedures, and performance standards to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Development and Adherence: Develop and ensure strict adherence to internal policies and regulatory procedures, ensuring a seamless compliance landscape.
  • Continuous Process Improvements: Lead quarterly reviews of processes and procedures to identify and enhance efficiency, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a liaison between branches and head office departments, facilitating effective communication and synergy.
  • Compliance Champion: Drive compliance across the branch network, overseeing activities like Operations excellence checklists, Snap checks, and risk assessments.
  • Audit Ratings Achievement: Aim for a remarkable 95% compliance and audit rating within the branch network, reflecting your commitment to excellence.
  • Operational Risk Management: Implement checks and balances to prevent operational losses, ensuring robust risk management within the branch network.
  • SOP Adherence: Enforce the strict implementation and adherence to approved Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by upholding the bank’s service standards and guidelines.
  • Operational Process Centralization: Collaborate on centralizing and standardizing operational processes across the bank while coordinating with control functions.
  • Policy Adherence Monitoring: Continuously review, update, and monitor adherence to internal policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Quality Control Oversight: Work closely with operations officers to conduct daily quality control checks, ensuring accuracy and excellence.
  • Supervisory Role: Provide supervision to Branch Controls/Branch Operations Units, empowering teams for success.
  • Operational Guidance: Advise and guide branch operational staff on entries for reversals and corrections, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Data Integrity: Coordinate data cleanup exercises and liaise with Enterprise Risk Management for critical data sets compliance.
  • Leakage Prevention: Proactively identify and address income leakages, driving process improvements to safeguard resources.
  • Exception Handling: Address audit exceptions and risk review findings within branches, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Business Continuity: Oversee business continuity plans and optimization initiatives, contributing to a resilient operational framework.
  • Adaptable Support: Be ready for any other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall operational success.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Advantageous: Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
  • Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience within the banking environment, with a strong background in operations and operational control.
  • Expertise: Profound knowledge of banking theory, Central Bank regulations, and industry practices. Deep understanding of banking products and services.
  • Leadership: Display exceptional leadership capacity, showcasing strategic development, monitoring, execution, and reporting skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Possess strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills, complemented by excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Professional Qualification: Possession of a Professional Banking qualification (AKIB) would be advantageous.
