The Opportunity
IFC is looking for a talented and motivated Operations Analyst to join our Somalia Country Office in Nairobi, Kenya. As an Operations Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Somalia Country Management team by providing invaluable research, analytical, and operational assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management Support: Assist the Country and Regional Management team with project management, planning, and monitoring to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of the work program. Your role requires discretion and professionalism.
- Pipeline Development: Support pipeline development across all industry groups by providing industry contextual data, company analysis, comparator analysis, and industry research.
- Data Expertise: Be the ‘go-to’ person for data and research, as well as operational and resource support, as directed by the Country Manager and the MEA management team.
- Data Analysis: Extract data from internal and external databases, manipulate and present it in various formats for different audiences with a high degree of accuracy. Maintain and update information in the database regularly.
- Document Preparation: Prepare documents and reports for various audiences, including country strategy submissions, sections of World Bank Country Partnership Framework documents, and business plans. Review and screen relevant documents for consistency with strategy documents.
- Advisory Role: Under the guidance of the Country Manager, advise project teams on the country context, IFC’s role, strategic fit, World Bank Group objectives, local markets, pipeline, and portfolio.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain a good working knowledge of current advisory and investment operations. Respond promptly to queries from HQ management and staff.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise and interact effectively with a wide network of contacts, both internal and external, at senior levels. Respond adeptly to inquiries and diverse situations, applying tact and pragmatic problem-solving skills. A strong network of contacts, both in government and the business community, is essential.
- Mission Support: Provide support for select visiting missions.
Selection Criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or similar; a Masters’ Degree is preferred.
- 2-3 years of work experience in banking, consulting, or another fast-paced, knowledge-based work environment.
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and database skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Exceptional teamwork skills, initiative, and the ability to work across organizational boundaries. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion when required.
- Familiarity with IFC databases (MIS, RMS, and other iDesk applications) is advantageous.
- Experience in IFC strategy and budgeting processes is a plus.
- Ability to excel under pressure and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Strong written and communication skills in English. Knowledge of Somali is a valuable asset.
