Our internship program aims to foster awareness and interest in foreign service careers. As an intern, you’ll delve into the diverse responsibilities and collaborations Norway shares with the UN (UNEP and UN Habitat), Kenya, and Somalia. Your tasks will encompass political and economic reporting, information and communication, aid management, multilateral initiatives, business promotion, event coordination, and administrative duties.
Nairobi serves as a hub for multiple United Nations agencies and international organizations, presenting a unique environment for aspiring diplomats. Norway’s extensive partnerships with the UN, Kenya, and Somalia offer an exceptional learning opportunity. Interns will play a crucial role in enhancing both internal and external communication regarding these partnerships.
Qualifications
In our selection process, we highly value candidates with the following qualifications:
- Enrolled in higher education with a focus on social sciences, economics, or legal studies.
- Academic background and a strong interest in foreign policy.
- Knowledge of Kenyan and/or Somali politics, culture, and society is a distinct advantage.
- Experience in or passion for aid and development cooperation is a plus.
- Personal initiative and an analytical mindset.
- Strong collaboration and independent work skills.
- Proficiency in social media and online publishing.
- Excellent English language proficiency, both written and spoken.
Scholarships and Practical Details
The internship program spans six months, commencing in February 2024.
While this is an unpaid program, we provide a monthly stipend of NOK 14,000 to support your living expenses.
Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation. Please note that expenses incurred before the start of the program are not covered.
