Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Conduct periodic project reviews with UNRC, Joint Programme Team members, and government counterparts.
- Prepare detailed reports on Joint Programme and SM4P project activities for UNESCO, donors, and partners.
- Organize and facilitate project Steering Committee meetings, including drafting minutes and action plans.
- Enhance project visibility by providing content on major achievements to the Public Information Officer.
- Foster information exchange and identify new strategies to improve service delivery and project objectives.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor and evaluate Joint Programme and SM4P project activities, updating the results framework as needed.
- Regularly assess financial status to ensure budget execution aligns with agreed plans.
Support to UNESCO/CI Sector
- Design, plan, and implement Communication and Information programmes in Kenya.
- Provide technical assistance to the government and stakeholders to support UNSDCF implementation.
- Participate actively in Delivering as One UN coordination teams and meetings.
- Develop strategic partnerships with ICT and media development partners to mobilize additional support.
- Stay updated on Kenya’s development needs to identify opportunities for UNESCO interventions.
- Prepare and submit reports on performance indicators, outputs, and lessons learned.
- Contribute to resource mobilization by developing concept notes and project proposals.
- Increase UNESCO’s visibility through promotional events and website content.
- Promote gender equality by integrating UNESCO’s Global Priority Gender Equality into programme activities.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communication, journalism, information science, digital transformation, public policy, international development, or related fields.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in communication and information or closely related fields.
- Experience in programme development and management.
- Proven experience in advocacy, resource mobilization, and partnership building.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills in project planning and implementation.
- Excellent analytical and technical abilities.
- Strong coordination skills with the ability to liaise with government and various stakeholders.
- Good interpersonal and networking skills in a multicultural team environment.
- Proficiency in IT skills, including standard office software.
Languages
- Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English.
- Excellent knowledge of Kiswahili.
